Character Final Picks Empty Acrophobia

Post  cvalin Sun Feb 27, 2011 3:53 pm

As I said in my earlier email, I'd like to have the fear of heights thing, since I can relate. And unless I'm mistaken, I just snagged it. (yes!)

Actually I was thinking of a male character that was having trouble talking with the opposite sex kind of like Raj in Big Bang.

DG...not a bad idea! I think you just need to find some type of condition to associate it with, so that him being in a support group makes sense. I can see a lot of fun with it because vamps usually have the reps of being ladies men.

I'm thinking an OCD vampire and a vampire afraid of the dark. Was going to toy with both ideas to see what you all think. -- Dani

How about a very bad actor who portrays a 1930's class Bella Lagosie version! I'd like to write about a guy who is an actor who portrays Dracula in really bad B movies....heh...maybe he is very vain and is a diva-like actor who thinks himself a serious dramatic thespian, but in reality he stinks...everyone knows it but him and he's very annoying...and has a phobia about clean teeth and flosses his "fangs" all the time...HA! A comedy, of course...perhaps some real vampires get so fed up with his cheesy portrails of a vampire, that they all get together and plot to attack him and turn him into a full-fleged vampre, just to shut him up! Kinda like Ted Baxter, the character on the sitcom The Mary Tyler Moore made popular by the great Ted Knight. The Baxter character is a broad parody of a vain, shallow, buffoonish TV newsman, so too my vampire movie actor...
And he also is afraid of bats! Ha!

Chiroptophobia- Fear of bats.
fear of the color yellow is Xanthophobia
There is the fear of dentistry and of receiving dental care. A pathological form of this fear (specific phobia) is variously called dental phobia, odontophobia, dentophobia, dentist phobia, or dental anxiety.

I was going to go with agoraphobia, so my vamp has to find interesting ways to get her meals delivered. Also, she suffers from hoarding, and just can't seem to part with the remains. I think the combination of the two will be interesting, and the two neurosis go hand in hand in her case as she couldn't really leave the house to dispose of them if she wanted to! I guess group would be one of the few things she can still leave home for. I like the idea of her stuffing their drained remains in her attic, chopping them up into little pieces and packing them away with other things she's hoarding, and then finally breaking down into making art and craft projects out of their bones!

I would like my vamp to have Chronophobia, which is a fear of time. I'm thinking she'll probably be a slave to the watch who experiences terrible discomfort trying to embrace her timelessness.

Character Final Picks Empty kleptomania

Post  Deb Wed Mar 09, 2011 10:43 pm

Hi Guys,

Unless there are any objections, my choice is kleptomania. Convenient neurosis for a vampire, I think.

No objections. Maybe you could have your character go on a tour of a blood bank and start helping him/herself. :-)
